Location and Descriptions of the Commons Around Swannington
Swannington is a small village situated about 6 miles to the North-West of Norwich in the county of Norfolk in the UK. The village has a long history, being mentioned in the Norman Doomsday book of 1085 together with evidence of Viking presence around the beck that runs through the village.

There are three pieces of common land in the village which, in the early nineties, were deemed to be under the ownership of Swannington, Alderford and Little Witchingham Parish Council by the Chief Commons Commissioner.
They are as follows:

Swannington Common (also known as 'the Green')
This is a small patch of land in the centre of Swannington village that contains the Hastings-Parker village pump (now unused). The common is mostly laid to grass and serves as a typical village green for fetes and festivities such as the biennial Swannington in Bloom open garden event.
